Icelandic Thunder

Icelandic Thunder is a selection of landscapes taken in 2014. I travelled on a stipend to do a story on the situation of independent and investigative journalism in the aftermath of the financial crisis in 2008. Despite the economic recovery Iceland was more or less left with a commercialized media driven by special interest of businesses. The fishing industries fighting to stay out of the EU with their own paper and on the other side the huge supermarket yearning for cheaper import with a membership in the union.

Driving throug the country, the landscapes of Iceland remain to be among top favourites I have ever seen. The harsh mountains and the dark sea gave solitude and moments to process the stories of what has changed since the financial meltdown.
