WRETCHED OF THE EARTH

Liberals generally claim that if you work hard you will one day also be rewarded and rich. The reality couldn’t be more of the opposite for the Ugandan farmers. Their labour is heavy and their crops never give much profit.

These photos are taken on my visits seeing cooperatives and farmers during my time I spent together with the organisation VI-Agroforestry. It’s an organisation who supports farmers to become more sustainable while also yielding more crops and a better future for their kids. Working in cooperatives is also an essential part to strengthen their gains from their land.

I lived in the East African region for six months mostly travelling on dirt roads by motorbikes or jeeps every week. Thus this series focus on the rural parts of East Africa.
